New gallery in Cong hosts inaugural exhibition

“The Ten Cross Painters” is the title of an inaugural exhibition of paintings in Cong Art Gallery. The exhibition which runs from Saturday June 16 until Saturday June 30, and the official opening will take place at 7.30pm on Saturday June 16 in the gallery. The Ten Cross Painters is the name of a group that meets in John Dinan’s studio in Cross once a month. “To learn and continue learning, and each fulfil a lifetime dream of becoming skilled, imaginative artists, enjoying every moment while striving to work at their full potential,” according to Dinan. Two of the artists are Mayo residents, Noelle Angley from Westport and Louise Conroy form Cong. Cong Art Gallery opens from 11am to 5pm every day during the exhibition including Sundays.

St Gerald’s College Music Department recently staged their second spring recital in the Linenhall Arts Centre. Following the success of last year in the school, it was thought to move to a proper concert setting of the Linenhall Arts Centre. Some 60 sang, played, and danced to a full house.
